The Road of Azerbaijan political movement took a decision not to take part in by-elections on 31 May 2006, the movement told Trend.

The Road of Azerbaijan political movement incorporating 6 political parties, 28 none-governmental organizations and individual social and political figures brought to discussion the issue of participation in by-elections at the higher body and based on consensus it was decided to deny by-elections. The movement substantiated this decision by violation of citizens rights to elect and be elected stipulated by the Article 56 of the Azerbaijan Constitution. This structure with its 39 candidates was involved in the last year 6 November parliamentary elections. However, none of the movements members won the elections.

The political movement thinks the activities of election commissions which admitted violations of law at the parliamentary elections, to which no political appraisal has been given, created the impunity environment. Therefore the structure thinks, it is not significant to participate in by-elections.
