The projects, implementing by international organziations in the Azerbaijani penitentiary system have great importance, Vilayat Zahirov, the Deputy Minister of Justice, said at a meeting with CE delegation in Baku, Trend reports.
Zahirov informed the guests about reforms, carrying out on improvement of activities of Azerbaijan's penitentiary system. He underlined the importance of the projects, implementing by international organizations in the sphere.
Margaret Killerbi, the head of the Department for Problems of Criminality of the CE Secretariat, who led the delegation, highly appreciated the reforms in the Azerbaijans penitentiary system and expressed satisfaction with productive cooperation in the sphere. She voiced hope that the program would yield succesful results.
The sides discussed the action plan on the joint program of the Council of Europe and European Commission, as well as within the program held exchange of opinions on training for penitentiary duty cooperation, organization of study tours of the European countries, rendering of technical assistance to reforms.
In the framework of the meeting the sides also touched upon the issues of the mutual cooperation in other spheres. Alessandro Machini, the coordinator of the programs of the CE Secretariat, mentioned progressive significance of the legal reforms, carrying out in Azerbaijan. He underlined impartial and transparent organization of test exams and verbal competitions to vacant places of judges.
