Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline construction works coming to end: Ilham Aliyev

The works on Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline construction are coming to an end, the Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev said in a statement during his interview with the Turkish NTV channel, Trend reports citing Azertadj.

Replying the questions concerning the delays in the BTC project accomplishment the head of the state said, certain delays had actually occurred. В"However, may be, it is also natural as it is dealt with the huge project. It means, the trans-national project combining three countries,

two seas, its constructing, engineering works are all extremely complicated, he said.

Ilham Aliyev reminded, a big ceremony took place in May 2005 and the first oil was pumped into the pipeline. В"For today the oil has reached Turkey, where the final works are underway. I hope, we will celebrate opening of the pipeline in Ceyhan soon, he added.

The president also said, the Turkish-Azerbaijani relations have been developing successfully in all fields. В"We have very close friendly and fraternal relations in political sphere, we also implement large projects in the economic sector, including the energy one. As you know, natural resources of Azerbaijan will be supplied to the world markets via Turkey Our links in literature are also of great significance. It means, this policy in Azerbaijan is going on in all aspects and I hope it will go on in future, Aliyev stressed.
