The statement on possible joining of Nagorny Karabakh to Armenia only enhances the tension in the region and does not bring any benefit, the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Reno Harnish said in a statement to journalists today, commenting on the latest statement by the Armenian president Kocharyan, Trend reports.
According to the diplomat, the government of the United States is interested in continuation of the negotiation process and encourages presidents and foreign ministers to proceed with the peaceful dialogue.
Speaking about the forthcoming meeting of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen in Washington Harnish noted, the latest statement by the co-chairs made yesterday in Vienna, proves once more their interest in the conflict resolution.
The USA supposes, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement is possible in the nearest future, Harnish noted.
