The candidates of the Consultative Council, uniting pro-governmental parties, can withdraw their candidacies in favor of single candidates from the New Azerbaijan party (NAP) in the by-elections to parliament on 13 May 2006, Trend reports quoting Mammad Alizade, the chair of the Consultative Council.
He noted that the Consultative Council made a decision on support of the single candidates from NAP. We have some time till the elections. We will reanalyze the process and conduct propaganda in the favor of the leading party, Alizade stressed.
He also said that Ilgar Guliyev, a member of the Republican Party, withdrew his candidacy from Sumgayit-Absheron constituency 42. Alizade did not exclude taking similar step by candidates from the Azerbaijan Democratic World Party, Democratic Enlightenment Party and Republican Party.
