ECO summit due in Baku

Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization for (ECO) will be held in Baku on 5 May. At present program agenda of the forthcoming forum is being coordinated, Trend reports.

Attending the meeting will be official representatives of the heads of states or governments of 10 member-countries.

OEC, founded in 1985, is a successor of Organization for Regional Cooperation for Development, which acts on the base of a Charter Izmir Agreement signed by three founder-countries Turkey, Iran and Pakistan 12 March 1977. Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan joined the organization in 1992.

The key objective of the OEC is to provide every facility for uninterrupted and comprehensive socio-economic development of countries entering: consequent and progressive integration of economies of countries of the region into the world system of economic relationships, establishment of active regional cooperation and mutual assistance in the culture, technical and scientific spheres.
