Azerbaijan to enter int'l level on tourism next 5 years - Abulfaz Garayev

Azerbaijan will enter international level on tourism next 5 years, Trend reports quoting Abulfaz Garayev, the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister, as saying at a presentation of master plan on development of Azerbaijans tourist strategy on Friday.

According to Garayev, the master plan was drawn up under the contract, signed between the Ministry and the Trade Development Agency of the U.S. State Department. Implementation of the project is financed by Agency. The master plan was worked up by the winner of the tender, held by Caspian Invest Group in late 2004.

According to Garayev, it will be included in the state program on development of tourism in Azerbaijan, which is under development to be presented to the President for approval. We hope for successful implementation of the master plan. The Minister said that it would allow raising of the sphere up to the level of world standards. The tourism in Azerbaijan will enter international level next 5 years. The Minister highly appreciated importance of document, including, recommendations of experts of the U.S. government.

In their remarks, David Isenberg, the representative of the Trade Development Agency of the U.S. State Department, and Galib Mammad, the head of the Caspian Invest, mentioned significance of the master plan, which will have great impact on development of the sphere in Azerbaijan and serve to poverty reduction.
