Platform for vacant gas production can be built under Contract of Century' - SOCAR Vice President

A new platform can be built while production of vacant gas from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) fields. It is explained with difference in the number of wells for gas production, are needed less than oil production. In the course of the implementation of the project it will be possible to expand the existing platforms installed in the fields for crude production, Khoshbakht Yusifzade, Vice President of the SOCAR, told Trend.

ACG Participating Interests are: BP (operator 34,1%), Unocal (10,2%), SOCAR (10%), INPEX (10%), Statoil (8,6%), ExxonMobil (8%), TPAO (6.8%), Devon (5,6%), ITOCHU (3,9%), Amerada Hess (2,7%).

An agreement concluded with partners on ACG are referred only on the development of oil deposits of this field. Vacant gas and condensate reserves are the topic of another agreement. Today only Pereriv Svtia is being developed on the ACG, while the lower laying horizons such as Kirmakinsk and Kalinsk Svitas are considered to contain gas. If new vacant gas deposits are opened as a result of exploration drilling, special contracts will be concluded in this respect. in case the agreement is reached with BP they will become operators on development of vacant gas deposits. As of initial estimations, gas reserves comprise several hundred cu m.
