Azerbaijan will become the first country in the South Caucasus and the second in CIS following Russia, where a digital television will be put on air. At present the search of new western companies which could carry out the project is underway, Ali Abbasov, the Minister for Communications and Information Technologies, told journalists.
The sphere of communications of some CIS countries, including Azerbaijan and Russia are in progress. However, a special state program is needed for comprehensive development of this sphere, Abbasov urged.
Thanks to a new program it will be possible to decrease export and import duties for goods and equipment of this category to the country. The sphere of information technologies comes as second after the oil and gas sector where the investments will be put. All depends on the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, which is charge of resolving a status of special economic zones, the minister underlined.
Abbasov also noted that new economic zones must be so large that to cover the markets of the entire region.
