Regional Informative meetings for the municipalities representatives will be held in Azerbaijan since May 2006, the European Council Congress` s of Local and Regional Self-government bodies project director, Karolin Martin told during the third meeting of the work group for the creation of the National Municipalities Association (NMA), Trend reports.
The congress will support the results of the meetings, she said adding, that trips abroad will be organized for the local representatives of the municipal power in order to acquaint them with foreign experience.
Considering the interest of the international structures to the given project, Martin reminded that at the meeting of the donor organizations of the NMA project, which was held on February 10 in Baku, representatives from OSCE, IFES, Eurasia fund, Open Society Institute, Asian Development Bank, UNDP, OXAM were present together with the EU experts and the Norwegian ambassador in Baku, Steinar Gill.
The need for foreign support will only increase at the further steps on of the NMA project development, she said. Probably international organizations will render assistance to some parts of the NMA project, she concluded.
