The relations between Azerbaijan and Italy will also develop and deepen under new government, which came to power in Italy, the Italian embassy in Azerbaijan told Trend.

The bilateral relations are traditionally good and close cooperation in policy, economy and culture is typical of them, the embassy stressed.

It should be mentioned that Romano Prody, the leader of the Italian opposition, declared the final victory of the leftcentral coalition in the parliamentary elections in the country. Meanwhile, Silvio Berluskoni, the Italian Prime Minister, whose rightcentral coalition lost in the elections and demanded recounting of votes at least in one of the constituencies.

According to the Italian Ministry of Internal Affairs, leftcentrists gained 49.8% of votes, rightcentrists - 49.7%. Despite minimal advantage (0.1%), the winner gets over 55% of seats in the Parliament. Thus, in accordance with the new legislation, the coalition of Prody will get 340 from 630 seats in the Lower chamber, 158 from 314 seats - Upper chamber.
