None of PACE rapporteurs included in observation mission on re-run elections parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan - PACE co-rapporteur

None of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) rapporteurs has been included in the observation mission on re-run elections parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, Andreas Herkel, a PACE co-rapporteur, said in an interview with a correspondent of Trend on Strasbourg on 12 April.

It seems to me, I was not included in the list as well, the rapporteur noted.

He explained the decision with the cut in the number of PACE observers from 40 to 20.

However, it will not affect our visit to Baku as rapporteurs, as I guess to be paid on 22-29 April, Herkel assured.

Moreover, Herkel refused from stating his position on the resolution to be taken at the June session of the PACE in connection with the forthcoming re-run elections in Azerbaijan. It is too premature to speak about it. It is necessary to wait for the result of the polls on 13 May in 10 constituencies, he concluded.
