Russian Defense Minister to pay a visit to Baku

The Vise-primer, the Defense Minister of Russia Sergey Ivanov will arrive in Baku on Tuesday where the next meeting of the Council of the Defense Ministers (CDM) of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held on May 31, Trend reports.

According to information provided by the Defense Ministry, the delegations of the Azeri, Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kirghizian and Tadjikistan Defense Ministries, the representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and Secretariat of CIS CDM are expected to take part at the meeting.

On Tuesday, a preparation meeting of the representatives participating at the meeting will be held. According to information of the Russian Defense Ministry, the meeting will focus on the issues of the military cooperation between the CIS countries on Wednesday. Sergey Ivanov is expected to hold a meeting with the Azerbaijani president and primer minister and visit the Martyrs Avenue and Heydar Aliyevs grave on Thursday.

During the visit, Sergey Ivanov will hold several bilateral meetings, particularly with the Ukrainian Defense Minister Anatoly Grisenko. The meetings will focus on the cooperation of the defense departments in the sphere of air defense forces, as well as other issue related to operational training. The final meeting of CDM was held at the end of November 2005 in Moscow.
