Consumer market

In April 2006 a rise of the retail goods turnover got restored amid continuing rise of the community services. In January to April the amount of retail goods turnover comprised 1742.6m manats, or 11.7% up as compared to last year. The commercial services delivered to population comprised 379.6bn manats, or 30.1% up as compared to last.

Prices

Over the first 4 months inflation ratio rose inconsiderably 5.4% against 11.4% last year. The consumer prices grew 5.2%, or 2% less as compared to previous month.

Inconsiderable rise in growth pace of inflation was caused by rise of growth pace of prices on all major category of goods and services. In April prices of foodstuff rose 8.2%, or 6.4% more than 2005. Non-foodstuff prices grew inconsiderably 2.8%, or 4.6% more than previous year

As compared to December 2005 in the first quarter index of industrial goods product grew 10.4%, or 7.1% more than January-February 2006. Rise over 4 months made up 17.5% as compared to last year. In this period prices in oil and gas production rose 13.9%, while in April 9.6%, wholesale prices in oil refinery grew 47.7%, though in April the rise comprised 46.8%. In refinery of chemical products drop was 4.9%, while in April it was 1.6%. Rose in metallurgy made up 7.5% and 2.3% respectively. In energy sector the prices remained unchanged and comprised 99.9%.
