A list will be drawn up to ensure the participation of the foreign citizens living in Azerbaijan for more than 5 years in the voting, Mazahir Panahov, the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) told, Trendreports.
He noted that according to the requirements of the Electoral Code of Azerbaijan, the foreign citizens living in the country for more than five years have the right to vote. But on condition that the Azerbaijanis living in the countries of the same foreign citizens are provided with the same right. In connection with this, CEC appealed to the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan for verification. I contacted the Foreign Ministry so that they prepare and present us the list of foreigners living in Azerbaijan for more than five years. At the moment, the ministry is being engaging in this issue and will inform us. CEC takes measures to appoint this list, told Panahov.
According to Panahov, CEC hasnt information about the issue that in which countries the Azerbaijanis have the rights to vote. There is not such a term in the electoral codes of several European countries.
