The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan is taking steps to prevent forest fires in regions. Trend reports with reference to the Ministrys press service, with this purpose central and local forest protection enterprises are set to duty mode, elucidatory work performed with farmers and land owners. However, last days intentional arsons have been registered in forests of Ismailla, Sheki, Akhsu, Gah, Oguz, Khachmaz, Devechi and other areas.
As a result, alongside humus quality aggravation the damage was made to the plants and hazardous substances emitted to the atmosphere. Despite the repeated warnings, on July 15 an intentional arson was committed in Ismailla area near the state forest reserve, resulting in burning 40ha of land away. The fire also covered some 0.9ha of forest fund.
In this connection, the Ministry of Ecology one more time brings to the attention of the population that straw burning after the harvesting may result in serious ecological consequences and harm Azerbaijans forests.
