Azerbaijan to provide humanitarian assistance to Lebanese and Palestinian peoples

Azerbaijan will provide humanitarian assistance to Lebanese and Palestinian peoples got into humanitarian crisis due to the military action of Israeli armed forces in the territory of Lebanon, Tahir Tagizade, chief of the press and information policy department of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, told Trend.

The decision regarding providing assistance has already been made at the state level and will be announced in the nearest future. This aid will be delivered to Lebanon and Palestine in near days.

The intention of Azerbaijan to render humanitarian aid was announced on the eve of the meeting of UNO in New York related to the humanitarian situation in Lebanon. The representative of Azerbaijan participated at the meeting as a chairman of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). Azerbaijani side mentioned in its speech the solidarity of OIC countries with Lebanon. Azerbaijan supported the proposal of UNO on the issue that the humanitarian aid is delivered in line with UNO, told Tagizade, noting that in relation with this, several countries participating at the meeting undertook obligations to render aid to Lebanon at concrete amount.

Besides, Azerbaijan has made a decision at the state level to provide assistance not only to Lebanon, but also Palestine, Tagizade stressed, adding that Azerbaijan, as a Moslem country and chairman of OIC, may not remain away from these efforts.
