4639 from the candidates participating in repeat and additional municipal elections scheduled for October 6, 2006, have returned the list of signature to the district election commissions, Mazahir Panahov, the chairman of Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC), told at the press-conference, Trendreports.
He noted that the period of putting forward candidature came to the end. 4639 from the candidates returned the list of signature to the district election commissions and the candidatures of 4592 were registered. According to the Electoral Code, within ten days, the documents should be looked through for checking up the signatures collected in favour of candidatesPanahov noted that up to now, candidatures of two persons were refused.
According to Panahov, 2136 candidates arent members of any parties. 2196 candidates are from New Azerbaijan Party, 23 Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, 26 United Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, 30 Social Welfare Party, 23 Civil Solidarity Party, 22 Azerbaijan National Independence Party, 5 Civil Unity Party, 9 Azerbaijan Democratic Party, 9 Democratic Reforms Party, 5 Adalat Party, 3 Umid Party, 15 Great Establishment Party, 22 Musavat Party. Panahov added that each party has the right to appeal CEC and receive information about the candidates.
Besides, the chairman of CEC noted that the stage of registering candidates will continue up to August 6.
