On August 16, the Korean representatives will arrive in Baku to hold talks on the creation of a new shipbuilding and ship-repair enterprise in Azerbaijan, the chief of Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company (SCSC) Aydin Bashirov told Trend. It is expected that the talks on this issue will also be held with the representatives from Turkey, Italy and other countries.
At present, the Company studies a possible place for the enterprise. After selecting three points, they will be forwarded to the confirmation of the government. According to the preliminary assessments, this enterprise may be located in Garadagh, Zikh or other place.
Not less than 20 ha territory is required for the creation of the enterprise.
It till be the most contemporary enterprise. The construction of all types of vessels that are necessary for Azerbaijan will be realized in the enterprise dry cargo, tankers, yachts, passenger ships.
The enterprise is implied to be created on base of four ship-repair plants existing in the country. Today, these enterprises are located in Baku bay, but in the near future, it is expected to resolve the issue of transferring all industrial enterprises located in the bay to outside of Baku.
