PACE Chairman: Problems in Georgian-Russian Relations Can Be Resolved Only Peacefully and Diplomatically

The existing problems in relations between Georgia and Russia can be resolved only peacefully and diplomatically, Rene Van der Linden, Chairman of PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe) told during the today`s press conference devoted to the start of the PACE autumn`s session, Trend reports.

He expressed regrets that there is a tension in relations between these two member-states of the Council of Europe. Mr. Van der Linden told that he had invited the leaders of the two countries to Strasburg to discuss the crisis and way outs of it. At the same time, he reminded that Georgia and Russia, as the other countries have their obligations before the Council of Europe to settle conflicts peacefully.

Mr. Van der Linden told that the issue on Russian-Georgian relations will be among the priorities of the session. The situation over the Balkans, Kosovo, Lebanon, illegal migration in European countries, etc will be discussed at the session as well.
