Mazahir Panahov, the Chairman of the Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced that on 4 October he is meeting with observers from the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, who will observe over the municipal elections on 6 October 2006, Trend reports.
The representatives of the Council of Europe will hold meetings with the representatives of different state bodies. There are over 9,500 observers in the Country. Furthermore, the media, political parties and non-governmental organizations will also observe the polls in Azerbaijan.
Panahov stressed that during elections, invisible inking will be used in the municipal elections. All poling stations will be supplied with ink, the CEC chairman stated.
Panahov noted that experienced NGOs would be allowed to observe the polls. The polls will also be observed by representatives of diplomatic corps, including the U.S. and British Embassies and international organizations functioning in Azerbaijan.
