Conference on Caspian Oil, Gas, Fields 2006' Begins in Baku

A scientific-practical conference Caspian Oil, Gas and Fields - 2006' commenced in Baku on 25 October, Trendreports.

In his opening remarks, Natik Aliyev, the Azerbaijan Minister for Industry & Energy, stated that at present a considerable increase of oil and gas production is observed in Azerbaijan.

This year Azerbaijan intends to produce up to 40 mln tons of oil, whilst in 2007 the figure will be increased to approximately 50 mln tons, he stressed. In 2007, AIOC plans to increase oil production from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields, which will increase the total oil production

in the Country to 50 mln tons.

Aliyev stated that such forums hold a great significance in the development of the energy sector, particularly with regards to further study of fields and their efficient development.

The two-week conference is expected to involve discussions on issues of oil and gas production, perspectives for the development of geology and geophysics and the transportation of hydrocarbons.

Organized by the Ministry of Industry & Energy, the Conference is held once every two years.
