IN 2007, Russia will reduce its gas export to Azerbaijan to 1,5 bln. cubic meters, Rovnag Abdulayev, President of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) said, Trend reports. According to him, the volume of the gas import from Russia will reach 4,5 bln. cubic meters this year.
According to Mr. Abdullayev, Azerbaijan will make up the insufficient volume of gas to provide the country with the blue fuel at the expense of Turkey gas share to be received from gas condensate field Shakhdaniz. The last alternative is still an issue of negotiations. At present, Turkey is not ready to receive gas from Shakhdaniz, said Mr. Abdullayev.
In the succeeding years, this gas volume might be returned to Turkey. At the same time, the existing contract cannot be revised.
