Presently, the Azerbaijan Transport Ministry is elaborating a conception on improving the rail way infrastructure of the country, Trend reports.
Musa Panahov, Deputy Azerbaijan Transport Minister told journalists today that proposals of this issue have been received from the World Bank (WB) , and the proposals of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Japan JBIC are being viewed. The latter expresses its wish to give funds to prepare works of the project and financing its implementation.
The total length of the Azerbaijan railways is 2250 km. 24,6 km of rail way fall at 1,000 meters of the territory of the country.
According to Mr. Panahov, the elaboration of the conception will take six months, however the first separate projects might be prepared as early as in the first half of 2007.
