We Will not Allow Strangers to Open a TV Channel Chief of Azeri TV and Radio Council

Those who want to participate in the competition announced for the frequency of ANS are the people working in the TV channels. Some people worked as announcers on TV, and now they want to open a TV channel. But we will not allow the strangers to open a TV channel, the Chairman of the National Television and Radio Council of Azerbaijan, Nushirevan Maharramli, said in his interview with Trend.

He said that according to the legislation of Azerbaijan, the competition participants should be the citizens of Azerbaijan, they should not be instituted to heinous or special heinous crimes, should not be prosecuted for the action against public morality, should not be confirmed by the Court as disable and should not have foreign citizenship. The religious organizations and political parties can not participate in the competition either. Other citizens can participate in the competition.

The competition has been scheduled for December 5 - January 5. Within this period, the TV and Radio Council will discuss the results and make a decision. The winning channel should start broadcasting within 6 months after the decision. If the TV channel is not broadcasted within 6 months, then the license will be liquidated.

Maharramli said that it is impossible to speak about the shortfalls of the new TV channel because it has no activities. From this point of view, the chances of other participants in the competition are higher than that of ANS. According to the Chairman of the Council, nearly 9 people have orally appealed for the competition and 1 person has forwarded an official appeal. This person is the employee of ANS.
