Azerbaijani-Austrian Business-Forum Will Positively Affect Development of Business Relations between Two countries  Azeri Deputy Minister

The Azerbaijani-Austrian business-forum took place in Azerbaijan on December 4, Trend reports. A delegation headed by the Consultant of the Austrian diplomatic representation in Russia, Yokhan Kauzl, will stay in Baku on December 4-5 to get familiar with the investment climate in Azerbaijan and the possibilities of establishing the future co-operation with Azerbaijan.

During the opening ceremony, the Deputy Economic Development Minister of Azerbaijan Niyazi Safarov introduced the guests to the investment opportunities of Azerbaijan and presented information about the macro-economical situation.

According to him, the growth of the gross domestic product (GPD) and the investment opportunities of Azerbaijan take a leading position in the world. The future plans of the Government include integration of the oil sector of the country into the world economy, and all opportunities have been created in Azerbaijan for the foreign investors. For this purpose, Azerbaijan Investment Company has been created to protect and attract investments to the country. Both sides confess the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Austria does not reflect the real situation. As a result of 2006, it amounted to $25 mln. At the same time, the export operations equaled $1,6 mln and import - $23,3 mln.

Kauzl said that the external commercial operations and investment allocations will increase as a result of the business-forum.

According to the Azerbaijan Deputy Minister, the entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan are ready to co-operate with the Austrian businessmen. He expressed his hope that the business-forum will positively affect the development of the business relations between the two countries.

The business-forum brings together more than 100 Azerbaijani entrepreneurs and 19 Austrian companies. The companies represent various spheres from sport dresses (Puma) to hard and chemical industry. The delegation includes the Austrian department of Siemens presented in the sphere of security systems.
