ANS (Azerbaijan News Service) TV and Radio Company will resume its broadcasting commencing from 12:00 a. m. ON 12 December, 2006, Nushiravan Maharramli, Chairman of the National TV and Radio Council has said during today's press conference, Trend reports.
He reported that the decision to resume the broadcasting of ANS was made during the sitting of the Council held on 11December. Taking into consideration the position of President Ilham Aliyev, and numerous appeals and requests we have received and in order to create a friendly atmosphere in the society, we have decided to permit ANS to resume its broadcasting. However, the competition for the frequency belonging to ANS which was previously announced is still in operation. The winner of the competition will be given the frequency, pointed out Mr. Maharramli.
He also said that the decision not to extend the broadcasting license with ANS remained in force as well. According to Mr. Maharramli, if ANS do not take part in the forthcoming competition, its broadcasting will be hindered again. If the TV and Radio Company take part in it, the results of the competition will be considered by the National TV and Radio Council after 5 February, 2007.
