The Minister of Culture and Information of Saudi Arabia, Iyad Medeni, who is in Azerbaijan on an official visit, said on December 12 in Baku during the meeting with the Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev that it needs to raise the cultural co-operation between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia up to the level of the political and economical relations, Trend reports.
Today there are close relations between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia in many spheres, he said. According to him, it is supported by the religious commonality of the two countries and friendly relations of the heads of the two states.
Garayev voiced his confidence that the visit will serve the development of the cultural relations of the two countries. During the meeting, the sides considered the prospects of the co-operation in defending the cultural and historical monuments, expanding relations in the sphere of the religious tourism and organizing and holding cultural days.
During the visit, the Minister is accompanied by the delegation comprising of 7 people. The visit is made on the invitation of the Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev. According to the program of the visit, the delegation will hold a number of meetings with the Azerbaijani side, especially Abulfaz Garayev, Heads of Azerbaijan State Television and Azeritaj News Agency.
The cultural program also includes the visit of Shirvanshah Palace, Maiden Tower, Carpet Museum, National Library and Exhibition held in the Exhibition Hall named after S.Bahlulzade. The delegation is expected to visit the regions of the country to get familiarized with the culture and history of Azerbaijan. The visit will last till December 17.
