Azerbaijan President Honors Opening of New Module Power Grid in Nakhchivan

A new module power grid was put into exploitation in Nahkchivan Autonomous Republic on December 20, 2006 with the participation of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, Trend reports.

Ten generators each with the capacity of 8.7 MW have been installed in the power grid. A new substation was built. The contractor for the construction of the electric power station is Finnish Company - Wartsila.

Over 110mln KW/h electricity was provided to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in November.

According to the order of the Azerbaijani President, Azerenerji should ensure the construction of 52 such stations in the country. Construction of these electric power stations will allow increasing the volume of production of the electric power in Azerbaijan by 450-560 mVt.
