The Azerbaijani politician, Rasim Musabeyov, informed Trend that the replacement of the Head of Turkmenistan may give an opportunity to alter the Azerbaijani-Turkmen relations.

He said that although Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are Turkic-speaking countries, the relations between the two countries were very hard, and the efforts to make positive changes in these relations did not yield results. Possibly after new head comes to power after death of Turkmen President, the relations with the neighboring state will normalize. It is possible to consider that the new Turkmen Head will pursue different policy because each new head needs to appear with more constructive position to be accepted by the international community. Safarmurad Niyazov had been the Turkmen Head for a long time, and therefore, he behaved himself more surely in the relations with the neighboring countries, and often appeared with subjective position. The new head will need to alter this policy. But, at the same time, this new policy may be temporary, said the politician.

Musabeyov considers that it is very difficult to fully replace the ruling regime in Turkmenistan. Person who will come to the power will depend on the stake of the ruling team. The son of the Turkmen Head is a strange person for the Turkmen community. But influential persons have remained in this team. For instance, personal guard of Turkmen Head has kept the community under threat. The stake of the guarding service will be decisive. But the opposition of the country may also use the created situation, he said.

According to him, the interference of the law enforcement bodies may become as a dangerous moment in such situation. Force may be used to take the situation under control. The Interior Ministry in Turkmenistan was least changing body. If a vacuum appears, the position, choice of the Interior Ministry will be important, Musabeyov said.
