The Chairman of the Latvian Parliament, Indulis Emsis, will visit Azerbaijan this year. The Latvian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mikhails Popkovs, informed Trend exclusively that the Chairman of the Milli Majlis [Azerbaijan Parliament] presented a letter of invitation to the Chairman of the 8th Seym of Latvia, Ingrid Udre, during his visit to Latvia last year. The invitation was warmly accepted, but the visit was delayed due to new elections to the Seym, the Diplomat stated.
The Ambassador noted Emsis to be a great friend of Azerbaijan and last year traveled to Baku to participate in the World Congress of Azerbaijanis. The visit will definitely take place but I am unable to provide a definite date of the visit, the diplomat stressed.
Mr. Emsis was elected as the Chairman of the 9th Seym in November 2006.
