The Economic Advisor of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Pakistan, Sabir Rzayev, exclusively informed Trend that the Embassy has begun preparations for the next meeting of the Azerbaijani-Pakistani Intergovernmental Economic Co-operation Commission.
At present we are awaiting proposals from the Government of Pakistan regarding the agenda of the meeting, he said. According to him, the agenda is expected to include topics regarding development prospects of bilateral co-operation in all aspects. The Commission will also consider the issue of organizing mutual visits by business people to establish closer economical relations. In particular the parties will consider opportunities to increase the amount of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. According to the diplomat, the amount of trade turnover in 2006 equaled $1.7 mln, with a large import volume. Azerbaijan imports mainly leather goods, textile and foodstuffs from Pakistan, Rzayev said.
