The Government of Azerbaijan prepared a pack of measures to resolve the problems of the Azerbaijanis expelled from the Russian Federation. The Chief of the Employment Policy Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Azerbaijan, Vagab Mammadov, exclusively informed Trend that the January 13 meeting of the Governmental Commission created according to the decree of the Azerbaijan President dated November 22, 2006 On resolving the problems of the Azerbaijanis involved in the trade in the territory of Russia is expected to approve these measures. They envisage resolving the labor establishment problems of the Azerbaijan citizens who return from Russia, ensuring their social protection and providing them employment opportunities.
According to Mammadov, in the future, the labor relation between Azerbaijan and Russia will be regulated in accordance with the Agreement on co-operation on labor migration between Azerbaijan and Russia. The document devised by the Azerbaijan Labor Ministry has already been agreed with the Russian side.
Within the co-operation, it is expected to create a system of information on the Azerbaijan citizens arriving to and leaving from Russia, as well as on measures taken for legalizing their labor activities in the territory of Russia.
Senior officials of Russia highly assessed the initiative of the Azerbaijan Government on legalizing the labor activities of the citizens. Amongst the CIS countries, Azerbaijan was first to express its intention to legally establish the labor activities of the Azerbaijanis in the territory of Russia. The Social Development Ministry and Migration Service of Russia expressed readiness to render assistance in resolving the problems with legalization of the labor activities.
