Azerbaijan and Russia Reach Agreement on Electricity Tariffs for 2007

Azerbaijan and Russia reached an agreement on electricity tariffs to be applied in 2007.

Marlen Asgarov, Azerenerji Vice-President exclusively informed Trend that Azerbaijan will import Russian electricity tariffs applied in 2006 вЂ" 3,636 cents per 1 KW/h, almost unchanged. However, Azerbaijani electricity to be delivered to Russia has increased from 1.58 cents per 1 KW/h to 1.8 cents.

A contract on an electricity exchange between Azerbaijan and Russia for the first quarter will be signed on 17 January.

In accordance with the agreement, Russia will supply Azerbaijan with electricity at the capacity of 200-250 MW during busy periods at a time when Azerbaijan has an electrical power shortage.
