The Chief of Azerbaijan State Border Service and Commander of the Border Troops, Lieutenant-General Elchin Guliyev, briefed the media on January 23rd that 2006 led to a new approach of the organization of the border defense, Trend reports.
According to him, although 100 buildings have been constructed over the past 15 years, in 2006 this figure amounted to 293. He said that it is the result of the successful economical policy of the Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev.
Today purchasing and applying modern technical equipment in border defense, realizing first control over the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian and other events are serious progressions of 2006. These steps will be continued during the 2006 to 2010 Program on Technical Development of Border Defense, which has been signed by the President of Azerbaijan, Guliyev stated.
