MP Aydin Abbasov: PACE Monitoring Committee to Discuss Azerbaijan's Obligation to CE Once More

The sitting of the Monitoring Committee has been held within the winter session of PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe). Aydin Mirzazadeh , a Member of the Azerbaijan Parliament (Milli Majlis), a Member of the Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE, has told Trend that Azerbaijan's obligation to the Council of Europe (CE) were discussed during the sitting.

The discussions were held at a high level. The head of our delegation, Samad Syyidov, provided them with the information about reforms and processes being carried out in Azerbaijan. Andreas Herkel and Tony Lloyd, the PACE Co-Rapporteurs for Azerbaijan, participated in the work of the sitting as well. Mr. Lloyd expressed his satisfaction with those processes and works carried out in Azerbaijan. He said that Azerbaijan would not leave the path to democracy in the future and cited the words of the Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev in this respect.

Touching the issue on the discussion of Azerbaijan's obligations to CE, Mr. Abbasov noted that РѕРїСЂРѕСЃР° обсуждения РѕР±СЏР·Р°С'РµР"СЊСЃС'РІ Азербайджана, Рђ. Аббасов РѕС'РјРµС'РёР", С‡С'Рѕ the PACE Monitoring Committee would not take any concrete decision in this issue. Some alterations should be made to the document prepared by the Co-Rapporteurs. Such changes will be done by the Azerbaijani party. Then, the Monitoring Committee will once more view the known issue and make a decision on introduction the document to discussion during the session of PACE. I think these discussions will be take place in April, 2007, concluded the Azerbaijani MP.
