Police to disallow Unsanctioned Rally Deputy Head of Baku Police

Yashar Aliyev, the Deputy Head of the Baku central Police Department, exclusively informed Trend that the police will not allow a rally to take place, which has not been sanctioned by the Baku City Executive Power. He was commenting on the unsanctioned rally scheduled by Azadlyg bloc January 26th, Trend reports.

He noted that this morning; 25 January, the organizers of the protest were invited to the Baku Central Police Department for talks.

We warned them and recommended that they reconsider their decision or postpone the rally. We will never allow the organization of a rally in place not sanctioned by the Baku City Executive Power. In the case of the unsanctioned rally taking place, those who made that decision will be made to answer to their actions. Mr. Aliyev warned.

The organizers were asked to stage the rally in a place allocated by the Baku City Executive Power.

Azadlyg, the largest bloc uniting 4 opposition parties, plans to hold unsanctioned rallies in 8 squares in Baku on 26 January.

The Department Deputy Head noted that the selection of several squares by the opposition would pose serious problems for the police. In any case we will allow the unsanctioned rally to occur, Mr. Aliyev stressed.
