Salary Increase for Education Employees on Average Amounted to 70% - Azeri Education Minister

The fact that the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, signed 28 orders in 2006 relating to education affirms infinite care regarding education, said the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan, Misir Mardanov, on January 25th at a collective meeting dedicated to the results of 2006, Trend reports.

The Minister highly appraised the raise of salaries of education employees last year. He stressed that by increasing salaries on average by 70% during the year was one of the significant steps on improving the social circumstances of education employees. It is not the maximum increase and we hope that the salaries will rise in the future, Mardanov said.

In addition, the Minister stressed that Aliyev participated in 24 measures connected to education last year. The President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, who participated in these events together with Aliyev, attended 24 events.

One indication that the State Head cares about education employees was that in 2006, 188 employees were awarded with various orders and medals; including several employees being awarded with an honorary pension of the President, rank of honorable teacher and other awards. The Minister added.
