Decision on Opening Borders with Armenia may be Made Only by Parliament of Turkey Governor of Igdir

The decision on opening the borders with Armenia may be made only by the Parliament of Turkey, the Governor of Igdir Province of Turkey, Saffet Karakhisarli, briefed the media, commenting on the possibilities of opening Turkish-Armenian borders, which also pass through Igdir, a Trend Special Correspondent reports.

Expressing their own attitude towards the possibilities of opening Turkish-Armenian borders, Karakhisarli highlighted the importance of friendly steps from the Armenian side, adding that firstly Armenia needs to give up its efforts of putting pressure on the European Union and other countries and organizing the adoption of the resolution on so-called Armenian genocide. It only leads to the nervousness of Turkey in relation to Armenia and does not serve the restoration of the confidence between the peoples, Karakhisarli said, adding that Armenia needs to reconsider its negative attitude towards Turkey and it may cause the activation of the commercial-economical relations. Amongst the tasks facing Armenia, the Governor also mentioned the necessity of Armenia releasing the occupied Azerbaijani territories.
