Chairman of National TV and Broadcasting Council Welcomes an Azerbaijani TV Channel's Admitting Requirements of Existing Legislation

The leadership of ANS admits legal aspects at viewing the results of the competition and says it is a supporter of taking a decision on the basis of the existing legislation. Nushiravan Maharramli, the Chairman of the National TV and Broadcasting Council, has exclusively told Trend that the Council welcomes this position of ANS.

He noted that the results of the competition announced for replacing the frequency of ANS had been discussed during the today's sitting of the Council with the participation of the leadership of ANS. The dialogues went on with mutual understanding. The founders of ANS quite normally apprehend the position of the National Council, and on the whole, the both parties want to solve the issue legally. Simply, the leadership of ANS asks to take into consideration other factors due to the competition, as well as not to protract the process. We apprehend their appeal normally and consider it as a way out of the situation; therefore we have launched the negotiations. On the whole, during the discussion, the both parties apprehended the positions of each other with mutual understanding, said Mr. Maharramli.

According to him, the Bill on TV and Broadcasting includes some disputable moments. However, the Bill on Tender openly says that if there are less than three candidates in the competition, then its results must be cancelled. Therefore the National TV and Broadcasting Council may take a decision to cancel the results, since there has been only one participant in the competition for substituting the frequency of ANS. That was ANS itself. Moreover, after the results of the competition held are viewed, the license may be presented to the Channel. The final decision on this issue is expected to be taken this week, concluded the Chairman of the National TV and Broadcasting Council.
