The Azerbaijan Minister of Youth and Sport, Azad Rahimov, briefed the media that on February 2, 2007 the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, may issue an order to announce 2007 as Year of Youth. He said that President, Ilham Aliyev, is expected to meet with the representatives of youths on the occasion of the Day of Youth on February 2, 2007. During the meeting, the President may announce 2007 as Youth Year because the Ministry of Youth and Sport had applied to the President for this issue. In addition, the Minister said that the law On youth is planned to be reconsidered at the Parliament of Azerbaijan. The Chairman of the Parliament Commission on Social Policy, Hadi Rajabli, informed the Ministry. Rajabli said that the law On youth will be discussed again and the expected amendments to the law may provide an opportunity to resolve several problems with the social situation of the youth.
