Deputy Chairman, Executive Secretary of ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), Ali Ahmadov, said that unfortunately, except NAP, parties in Azerbaijan do not inform the community on the sources of financing, Trend reports.

At the end of each year, NAP presents to the community report on not only financial sources, but also on questions stipulated in the legislation regarding political parties. We repeatedly appealed to other parties and raised the question that they should announce the sources of financing. However, these parties still hide the sources of financing, Ahmadov said.

According to him, it is also one of the facts requiring making amendments to the law On political parties and revising the legislation base regulating the activities of the parties.

Ahmadov said that if the financial sources of the political parties are not known or there are unclear aspects, then those people willy-nilly appear to various associations. One of these associations is linked with the issue that the political parties function at the expense of foreign sources and another fact is that they function on the base of the dirty money. Both cases are contrary to the active legislation and national interests. There is a need to regulate the law to eliminate these negative aspects, he said.

New Azerbaijan Party was created in 1992 in Nakchivan Autonomous Republic. The first Chairman of the Party was the ex-President of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev. The present Chairman of the Party is the President of Azerbaijan Republic, Ilham Aliyev.
