NATO Assistant mission Arrived to Baku

NATO Assistant mission headed by Lorenz Meyer-Minneman, the Organization Coordinator for Azerbaijan and 10 other participants arrived to Baku, a source in the Azerbaijan Interior Ministry informed Trend.

The key aim of the visit of the delegation is to appraise the NATO Individual Partnership Programme with Azerbaijan, as well as the process of planning and analyses. NATO Representatives have already held meetings in the Frontier Service and Frontier Troops of the Country. Additional negotiations are expected to be held in the Domestic Office of the Country. Representatives of other state offices and agencies, as well as the Defence Ministry will take part in this meeting.

A report is expected to be prepared as results of the visit. It will be submitted to the NATO Headquarters and put into discussion between representative of Azerbaijan and 26 NATO member-states.

Trend has been informed in the NATO Information Centre Azerbaijan, that Yeter Yaman, the former NATO public diplomacy officer , has entered the present NATO delegation as well. She is expected to hold meetings with students and representatives of NGOs of the country. During these meetings, the results of the last NATO summit held in Riga, issues connected with scientific cooperation of the Organization will be discussed.

The visit of the NATO delegation to Azerbaijan is expected to be concluded on February 16, 2007.
