Foreign Minister of Germany Will Discuss in Baku the Integration into EU and Energy Co-operation

The Second Secretary of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany, Nasimi Agayev, informed Trend that the Foreign Minister of Germany, Frank-Walter Shtaynmayer, will, within his visit to Azerbaijan on February 18-19, 2007, discuss the question of Azerbaijan integration into the European Union. Presently Germany chairs the European Union and intends to cover all actual question within its chairmanship. Germany considers the activation of the implementation of the New Neighborhood Policy as one of its priorities and in this plan, Germany attaches a great importance to the development of the co-operation with Azerbaijan, the diplomat said.

The visit will take place within the tour to the countries of South Caucasus. The Foreign Minister of Germany will arrive in Baku in the evening of February 18. On February 19, he intends to hold negotiations with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov and President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, Rovnak Abdullayev. In the second half of the day, he will remove from Baku to Tbilisi.
