Azerbaijan, Baku /corr Trend I.Alizade / Vilayat Zahidov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Justice Minister, stated in Parliament, during his presentation of a report on the activities of municipalities in 2006, that a number of criminal violations have been revealed within 17 municipalities in 2006 and the relevant documents were submitted to the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.
He added that some criminal violations were exposed in a number of village municipalities of Absheron, Masally, Bulasuvar, Astara Districts.
Zahirov noted that last year they prohibited illegal trading of 1,559 hectares of land. "Furthermore, the court filed a suit on the violation of land legislation, the cancellation or adjustments of 48 licences. Twenty-three of them were cancelled, while administrative protocols were compiled on 48 cases," the Deputy Minister added.
In addition, in accordance with Article 326 -1.2 of the Code of Administrative Violations of Azerbaijan, the court held 81 chairmen of municipalities accountable.
