Ambassador of Iran Refutes Opinion that He Leaves His Post before Appointed Time due to His Views

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend E.Huseynov / The Ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan, Afshar Suleymani, refuted the opinion that he leaves his posit before the appointed time due to his views. He briefed the media on 1 March that the period of his authorities as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Azerbaijan concludes on 2 March. According to him, he has been holding this post since September 2004, but now he needs to leave this post after he was hardly operated on his heart. "My doctor advised me not to speak much, not to worry and to refrain myself from stress," the diplomat said, adding that irrespective of expiration of 2.5 years instead of 3 years, he leaves this post.

In addition, Suleymani said that he has already received a number of proposals from the Foreign Ministry to take up the post of ambassador in other countries, but he has refused because he wants to have a rest. The issue that I am offered to be an ambassador in other countries once again testifies the falseness of the opinion that I leave Azerbaijan before the appointed time due to my sharp statements, Suleymani said, adding that he has always expressed the position of official Tehran.
