Azerbaijani Authorities Disagree with Report by PACE Rapporteurs

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr A.Ismayilova / The Azerbaijani authorities estimate some milestones in the report developed by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) rapporteurs, Tony Lloyd and Andreas Herkel, with respect to fulfillment of Council of Europe obligations by the country as subjective.

According to Ali Hassanov, the Head of the Public and Political Department of the President's Executive Power, the Government has voiced its disagreement in connection with the report, which will be discussed at PACE spring session in April. It particularly concerns the sections on political prisoners and elections. Moreover, the report classified some problems peculiar to many CE member-countries as specific for Azerbaijan.
