Agenda of Next Meeting of GUAM Council of National Co-ordinators in Kiev Confirmed

Ukraine, Kiev / corr. Trend Z.Novosvitski / The next meeting of the Council of National Co-ordinators of GUAM ( Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova) scheduled for 15-16 March in Kiev is planned to focus on several issues, Trend Special Correspondent reports quoting GUAM Information Office in Kiev.

According to the report, firstly there will be issues of the institutional development and organization activities of the "Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM", which has been created on the basis of the transformation of GUAM. The second group of issues will be international and regional security and stability, mutual action of the GUAM member-countries within the international organizations, especially UNO and OSCE, as well as the development of co-operation of GUAM with these international organizations and other countries.

Special attention will be given to issues to develop the sectoral co-operation of GUAM, as well as topics such as economy and trade, energy, transport, IT, culture, education and science, emergency situations, tourism, fight with terrorism, organized criminality and narcotics. In addition, debates will be organized on other issues, which are in preparation for the next meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers and Council of State Heads (summit), which is planned to be held in summer 2007 in Azerbaijan.

Ukraine has been chairing GUAM since 23 May 2006. At the beginning of 2007 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a plan of measures on the implementation of the program of Ukraine's chairmanship to the "Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM". One of the key tasks of the program is to authorize the Regulation of GUAM and implement preparation work for the office of the GUAM Secretariat that is located in Kiev.
