Head of Foreign Relations Department of Azerbaijan Presidential Administration: Statement of US Ambassador Comes Out Diplomatic Frames
Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend E.Huseynov / The Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Executive Apparat of Azerbaijan President, Novruz Mammadov, called the recent statement of the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Anne E. Derse, as a statement coming out the diplomatic frames.
Recently the US Ambassador stated that the USA calls on the Head of Azerbaijan to eliminate the shortfalls stipulated in the annual report of the Department of State, which exist in the Country in the sphere of human rights. The Ambassador started that the annual report of the Department of State describes Azerbaijan amongst the countries, where the situation with the human rights worsens. Amongst the negative aspects, the Ambassador, basing on the report, mentioned the presence of the cases of attacks to the journalists, violation of the rights of freedom of assembly, worsening of the situation in the prisoners, corruption in the court system and police. The Head of Azerbaijan should liquidate these shortfalls because the Republic has undertaken serious obligations before OSCE, the Council of Europe, European Union and NATO to ensure human rights, Derse said.
"I frankly say that the statement surprised me in certain degree because I such understand that the statement of such character made by the diplomatic representation, especially Ambassador, through media come out the diplomatic frames in certain degree," Mammadov said in his interview with Trend. "The Venice Convention, which regulates the diplomatic relations, concretely describes the frames of the activities of the diplomatic representations. We don say that everything is ideal in our Country and there are not any problems. But the reality is that strong development is going on in our Country and there are decisive wills to resolve the problems, and the results are obvious," he said.
In addition, Mammadov said that the freedom of assembly is ensured in Azerbaijan, nobody sustains groundless arrest, fight is held against corruption. As clear sample, Mammadov mentioned the publication in the newspapers the statement of the State Commission for Fight against Corruption of the Council of the Council for Management of the State Service of Azerbaijan regarding the results of implementation of the State Program for Fight against Corruption.
Touching up on the issue that the American Ambassador made a statement by basing on the report of the Department of State, Mammadov said that it is not a ground to make statements in such manner and through media.
