OSCE to Develop Report on Court System in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr S.Agayeva / Herrero Ansola, Head of Baku Office of OSCE, has reported that the OSCE will continue to closely observe the execution of OSCE principles and obligations by Azerbaijan in 2007.

OSCE will continue to support the efforts by the Azerbaijan Government and the public in implementing the principles of the organization. The main focus will be on politics, military and the economy, as well as environmental protection and human rights. OSCE will also continue to offer technical assistance to improve police activities, to reform the court system and the provision of transparency in use of oil revenues, he said. This year there are also plans to summarize the monitoring of court institutions and develop a report and submit recommendations to the Government on the basis of OSCE. The organization continues to offer assistance to the authorities in its fight against human trafficking, illegal migration and reformation of the prisons.

Ansola praised the Azerbaijan Government on its achievements and successes with regards to poverty reduction and the country's economic indices.
